About the role

Electronic Assemblers assemble electronic systems and support structures using soldering irons or other hand tools to install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and assembly casings. This non-exempt position reports to the Production Manager and is available on the day shift (Mon-Thurs 6:00am-4:30pm).

Responsibilities

• Assemble subassemblies and/or final product following instructions from matrix documentation and SOPs.
• Place, wire, solder, and use a hot soldering iron to connect and encapsulate PC boards and/or units.
• Test, label, package, and deliver products to the stockroom.
• Adjust, repair, or replace electronic component parts to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Read and interpret drawings, work orders, and reports to determine materials requirements and assembly instructions.
• Position, align, and adjust work pieces and electrical parts to facilitate wiring and assembly.
• Complete, review, and maintain production, time, and component waste reports.
• Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan and review work activities and resolve production problems.
• Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of basic math/calculations.
• Ability to read and understand English.
• Ability to use a computer, hand tools, gauges, and testers.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work independently and in a group setting.

Physical Demands

• Sit for up to 8 hours per day.
• Exposed to a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day.
• Use a computer mouse, keyboard, and other standard office equipment.
• Talk or hear frequently.
• Hand solder with a hot soldering iron, inspect boards under a microscope, and make simple repairs.
• Bend neck to use a scope for precision work and perform inspections.
• Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel to complete tasks.
• Simple hand grasp needed to convey parts and hold tools; dexterity required to solder, encapsulate, and correct defects.
• Occasionally move, carry, or lift objects or materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to focus on fine details and distinguish between colors as required for detailed tasks.
