Electromechanical Technician I- Weekend Shift (CAT)

About the role

The Electromechanical Technician performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of electrical distribution systems. This role requires strong mechanical skills, including light fabrication and welding, and a demonstrated commitment to safety through knowledge of electrical codes, lock-out procedures, and arc flash protection. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repairs of electrical appliances, apparatus, systems, facilities, and related electronic controls using blueprints, manufacturers’ specifications, and written/verbal instructions.
• Assist in establishing preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities.
• Inspect electrical components, instruments, meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations and locate defective components using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
• Plan layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment while avoiding unsightly, hazardous, or unreliable wiring.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical controls.
• Complete documentation to ensure control documentation is current and follow all necessary change control procedures.
• Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, data monitoring equipment, thermal imagers, and megohmmeters.
• Maintain accurate records of test results and provide reports to management.
• Comply with all documentation requirements regarding processing, GMP safety, housekeeping, environmental, and sanitation.
• Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed to foster a positive safety culture.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Three (3) years of experience in repairing building and parking lot lighting systems.
• Three (3) years of experience in single and three-phase power up to 480 VAC.
• Three (3) years of mechanical experience, including light fabrication and welding.
• Ability to follow electrical schematics and construct motor control panels.
• Ability to measure, cut, and run conduit up to 2 inches.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting defects in electric motors and motor control panels.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain electrical heat trace systems.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for arc flash and electrical power.
• Ability to use, maintain, and possess required hand tools for assigned tasks.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards of electrical measuring equipment and necessary safety precautions.
• Demonstrated ability to support a positive safety culture.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• More than three (3) years of experience in repairing building and parking lot lighting systems.
• More than three (3) years of experience in single and three-phase power up to 480 VAC.
• More than three (3) years of mechanical experience.
