About the role
Electromechanical Field Service Technicians perform preventative and reactive maintenance on a variety of electromechanical equipment inside big-box retail stores. Technicians work out of their home and respond to service calls as scheduled by their District Service Manager (DSM). Equipment types and response times vary based on customer and company needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform billable work by maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing equipment (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and similar).
- Abide by all OSHA, customer, and DOC safety regulations, including PPE requirements.
- Respond to all service calls within customer expectations and DOC requirements.
- Provide all required documentation via handheld device.
- Perform cost-effective service and repairs while maintaining quality.
- Seek technical support onsite to avoid prolonged repair times.
- Remain reachable by phone for reactive service repairs unless otherwise approved.
- Order correct parts for repairs and maintain organized inventory for quick access.
- Arrive at jobs on-time and prepared with tools, instructions, parts, and safety equipment.
- Travel to and from customer locations.
- Perform accurate and timely inventory reconciliation.
- Return parts as requested, following instructions.
- Evaluate preventable service problems at customer locations and educate or make recommendations to the customer as directed by DSM.
- Other duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum two years of equipment repair experience or a combination of training and experience.
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge; ability to read and understand schematics.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and call management software.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety regulations related to equipment repair.
- Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of insurance.
- Satisfactory background check.
- Maintain a professional appearance, behavior, and positive attitude.
- Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand, bend, and drive for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights of more than 6 ft.
