Responsibilities
- Prepares and fabricates basic and specialty electrical and some fiber optic cables and assemblies.
- Prepares and fabricates basic and specialty electrical and fiber optic connectors.
- Ensures products meet technical specifications and quality standards for delivery to Sub-critical Experiments and collaborating National Weapons laboratories.
- Works within a technical team to provide resources, services, and capabilities efficiently.
- Operates fabrication equipment and tools, offering hands-on support for projects at both North Las Vegas and the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
- Collaborates with technicians and engineers in the Optical Mechanical Technologies organization to ensure successful product and service delivery.
- Interacts with internal customers to ascertain requirements and ensure satisfaction with delivered assemblies.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in field related to the position or High School diploma plus 2 years’ progressive related experience.
- Experience with electrical components, circuitry, the building up and hand wiring of circuit boards, soldering, AC/DC electronics, basic hand tools, electronic test and measurement equipment, and basic electronic troubleshooting is preferred.
- Experience working in a team environment that includes scientists, engineers, technicians, and designers.
- Experience using standard office software products.
- Must be competent in basic electronic work and optical work including Fiber Optics is preferred.
- Ability to work underground is required.
- Ability to effectively deal with pressures of deadlines and multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well with others, as this position will regularly interface with team members, other teams, and outside organizations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, and work as part of a team.
- Ability to execute work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
