About the role

The Electro-Mechanical Technician I maintains and repairs manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime, increase product yield, and optimize machine reliability while meeting Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality requirements. This role involves daily execution and documentation of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, changeovers, and spare parts management. The Technician may also participate in small-scale projects supporting the installation, implementation, and commissioning of new equipment or components.

Responsibilities

  • Performs troubleshooting on blending and high-speed packaging manufacturing lines, including mechanical and electrical equipment such as conveyors, end-of-arm robots, automated material handlers, motors, pumps, variable frequency drives, x-rays, thermal sealers, carton erectors, PLCs/HMIs, and scales.
  • Executes and documents preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • May assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions.
  • Utilizes CMMS to document maintenance work orders and spare parts consumed.
  • Executes equipment changeovers on designated equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with food safety, product quality, and plant EHS guidelines as specified by federal, state, local authorities (OSHA, HAACP, GMP), and company policies.
  • Participates in continuous improvement by providing suggestions to enhance operational efficiency, EHS, and quality.
  • Participates in small-scale projects for the install, implementation, and commissioning of new equipment or components.
  • Provides or enters metrics and technical details in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Daily Accountability Board.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing maintenance or equivalent, with mechanical and electrical equipment, preferably in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment.
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, bills of materials, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices and terminology.
  • Basic understanding of utility equipment such as air compressors, dust collectors, HVAC, and electrical power distribution.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and machine shop equipment.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Familiarity with EHS and quality regulations.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
  • Customer service-oriented to serve internal customers and work with external contractors.
  • Intermediate problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, and accept constructive feedback.
  • Able to communicate technical details verbally and in writing to peers and stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing on feet for long periods while evaluating tasks, completing audits, and teaching maintenance skills.
  • Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying tools and supplies, kneeling, stooping, and prolonged standing.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $31.07 - $42.03 per hour.
