Electrician - Service Technician

About the role

Folkes Home Services, established in 1990, is seeking a skilled Electrical Service Technician to join their team in Fishkill, NY. This position involves delivering high-quality electrical repairs, maintenance, and installations for residential customers.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain electrical systems
• Perform installations, maintenance, and repairs of electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, and controls, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Diagnose and resolve electrical problems using specialized tools such as voltmeters and ammeters
• Work closely with colleagues to plan and execute electrical installations and maintenance tasks, adhering to project specifications and industry standards
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to determine the placement of outlets, fixtures, and wiring
• Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations, ensuring all electrical work meets or exceeds required standards
• Engage with clients professionally, addressing inquiries, explaining system operations, and offering maintenance advice to ensure long-term satisfaction
• Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders and inspection reports, in a timely and accurate manner

Requirements

• Proven residential electrical experience, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair in occupied homes
• Demonstrated sales ability, with experience presenting service options, explaining value, and closing residential service upgrades
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and residential wiring practices
• Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to electrical installations
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
• Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in electrical installation and repair
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
• Strong communication and customer service abilities, especially in residential settings
• Ability to work independently in customers' homes with professionalism and care
• Valid driver's license
