Electrician Journeyman II

About the role

The Electrical Journeyman II and Journeyman III/Lead Tech positions at Liberty University are responsible for performing a wide range of electrical work, from routine maintenance to complex installations. These roles require a high level of independence and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining permits and performing electrical work as required by law
• Overseeing the work of lower-level licensed Electricians, Trades Helpers, and assisting with Journeyman/master-level assignments
• Regularly inspecting and evaluating electrical and electronic equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation
• Connecting wires, splicing, and repairing electrical equipment and components
• Installing, repairing, and distributing electrical motors, relays, switches, and other equipment
• Ensuring that equipment is in safe operating condition and maintaining accurate records on material and labor used
• Assisting in training lower-level apprentice Electricians and others
• Diagnosing and resolving electrical issues and recommending replacements
• Performing emergency calls as needed
• Maintaining a clean and professional appearance and adhering to safety protocols

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Virginia Master Electricians License Card
• State Driver’s license and insurable with company’s agent
• Approximately 8+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to understand and follow instructions, work well with the public and co-workers, and maintain a positive attitude
• Proven leadership skills, initiative, and competency
• Excellent self-management, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
• Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform duties in typical Virginia climate
