Electrician Journeyman

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Installs and connects power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, newly installed machines and building equipment
• Troubleshoots and supports production controls and automation components
• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged parts, broken wires, cables and connections
• Maintains building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, emergency lights/exit lights, 120 volt outlets, photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting, and lighting contactors that are controlled by the energy management system
• Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings per the NEC
• Performs preventative maintenance tasking, on 480 volt or less, on all electrical utilities and equipment
• Maintains, organizes, cleans shop area and or service van, including inventory control, tool maintenance and calibration of testing equipment

Qualifications

• Successfully completed Apprenticeship Program
• Must be 21 years old or older
• 4 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts
• Occasional exposure to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
• May be required to work in confined, restricted and hot areas
• Work may be located inside or in outside environments
• Must be willing to work overtime when required
• May be required to work holidays and weekends
