Electrician II Indirect

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager. The primary responsibility is to repair, install, and maintain mechanical/electrical components on plant machinery, utilities, and equipment in accordance with instructions.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of safety awareness through correct and proper maintenance processes, procedures, and actions that promote the value of working safely every second of every day.
• Safely use tools with skill and as they are intended, producing quality workmanship.
• Apply experience and knowledge with electrical and basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Safely troubleshoot, test, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems operating at voltages up to and including 480 VAC.
• Read electrical schematics and safely verify voltage on energized 120V, 240V, and 480V circuits when required for troubleshooting.
• Perform tasks associated with installation of new equipment (bending conduit, pulling wire, installing disconnects, assessing phase/voltage/grounding).
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair 480V motors, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), disconnects, motor starters, transformers, electrical panels, and power distribution equipment.
• Perform work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, company safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements, and electrical safe work practices.
• Read, understand, and apply blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Apply knowledge of codes and regulations to which the facility must adhere.
• Use electrical-specific tools including voltmeters, scanners, etc.
• Execute work orders and complete necessary documentation.
• Perform electrical maintenance and repairs of equipment with minimal direction.
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities; good written, communication, and computer skills.
• Participate in all Maintenance Training Programs.
• Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance procedures.
• Conduct periodic checks (TPM) on equipment to ensure equipment is to standard.
• Capable and willing to work overtime including weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods.
• Perform any duties as assigned by the Maintenance Leadership.

Requirements

• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems including 480 VAC three-phase power distribution, motor controls, electrical panels, transformers, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, and electrical safety practices.
• Knowledge of OSHA electrical safety requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and arc-flash awareness.
• Great communication and presentation skills.

• Understanding of textile manufacturing methods.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, reports, business correspondence, regulatory, and procedure manuals.
• Perform arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Record numbers on required paperwork.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement).
• Completion of a technical school program or apprenticeship in electrical work.
• Specialized training in industrial or manufacturing systems a plus.
• State or local license.
• Minimum of 3 years’ industrial electrical maintenance experience working with 480 VAC three-phase systems preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting motors, motor controls, VFDs, PLC systems, and industrial power distribution equipment preferred.

Physical Demands

• Frequent hand, finger, and wrist movement to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Requires standing (80%) and walking (10%).
• Frequently required to talk, listen/use hearing, stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, and/or use repetitive hand motions.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance.
• Constantly lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift as much as 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

• Constantly work under tight time constraints.
• Occasionally work mandatory overtime.
• May occasionally have exposures to extreme wet and/or humid conditions, heat/cold temperatures, and loud machine/equipment.
• Occasionally exposed to vibration, fumes, or airborne particles.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirements

• Arc-flash rated PPE, voltage-rated gloves, face shields, and other electrical PPE as required by the task and company safety procedures.
• Eye protection.
• Hearing protection.
• Steel toe/non-slip shoes.
• Reflective vest (where applicable).
