Major Job Functions
- Cover preventive maintenance in accordance with the established scheduling system.
- Inspect, diagnose, test, install, maintain and repair electrical equipment.
- Conduct routine rounds of the facility and perform a variety of routine service and repair tasks to monitor and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
- Make necessary repairs and maintain essential electrical life safety systems including but not limited to, fire alarm system, emergency generators, switchgear, transfer switches, etc.
- Complete in-service for physical plant, building, HVAC and Life Safety systems and equipment.
- Participate in performance improvement and information management activities.
- Investigate incidents involving the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components, utility system components and equipment and makes recommendations to supervisor.
- Provide technical assistance to department staff by trouble shooting and resolving problems associated with the operation and repair of the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components and utility system components and equipment.
- Perform periodic inspections of mechanical and electrical rooms and corrects physical plant, building and life safety deficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade or vocational school graduate required.
- Electrician's license preferred.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
- 5 years of electrical maintenance related experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- Ability to communicate with employees, patients, visitors, vendors, construction contractors.
- Ability to move throughout the Medical Center.
- Visual acuity for reviewing written reports.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs for access to construction areas.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Exposure to temperature extremes from boiler room to air-conditioned areas.
- Exposure to high-speed cutting tools, electrical wires, and equipment, sealing agents, adhesives, and demolition debris.
- Works near machinery and resultant dust of construction.
