Electrician / Electrician Trainee

General Duties And Responsibilities

• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
• Repair and install electrical devices such as receptacles, light fixtures, light switches, lighting ballast, motors, etc.
• Affords assistance in keeping building common and electrical spaces in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
• Accomplishes work in accordance with blueprints and specifications, and national and local codes.
• Updates as-built drawings as necessary, according to department policies.
• Attends Tool Box safety meetings and demonstrates safety competency in addition to any other recommended topics such as harassment prevention, ethics, etc.
• Obtains an OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health standards certification.
• Extended hours or weekend overtime may be available.

Education And Experience

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of the electrical construction industry and the National Electrical Code and design are desirable but not necessary.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly walks, uses fingers and hands to handle or feel, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
• Talks or hears, tastes or smells, adjusts focus, communicates effectively, cooperates, and collaborates with multiple levels of customers, employees.
• Lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, moves/lifts heavy objects, climbs vertical ladders, works at heights, proficient in the use of common hand and power tools.
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, navigates around job site locations.

Work Environment

• Works outdoors, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high, precarious places, dust, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, cold and heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• Noisy environment, moderate to loud noise level.
