Electrician - Construction
About the role
Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) is seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our team. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components in commercial, industrial, and large-scale construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, modify, and repair electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and control systems according to National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to understand project specifications.
- Install conduit, cable trays, wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, switches, and other electrical equipment as required by project designs.
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure that electrical work is aligned with other trades and overall project timelines.
- Lead apprentices and provide on-the-job training and mentorship to help them grow in their skills.
- Maintain compliance with IBEW agreements, local labor standards, and company policies.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently, following OSHA and company safety protocols.
- Report and document work progress, issues, and resolutions to the foreman and project managers as necessary.
- Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and ongoing training to remain up to date on new tools, technologies, and safety standards.
- Provide input on electrical materials, tools, and equipment necessary for each project.
Requirements
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
- Journeyman Electrician Certification or State License preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Journeyman in commercial, industrial, or electrical construction projects.
Qualifications
- Experience in leadership or supervising apprentice electricians.
- Certification in OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training.
- Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces as required by the job.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $48.00/Hr. to $50.00/Hr., with additional hourly incentives based on project performance. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
Schedule
Hours and schedule will vary based on project demands and may require occasional overtime.
