Position Responsibilities
- Plans new installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid hazardous wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
- Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
- Makes measurements, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
- Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Years of experience
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license
- Appropriate training and experience required

- Work easily and skillfully with hands
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds
- See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors
- Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools
- Bend, crouch, and work in small places
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
