What You'll Do
- Inspects, tests, repairs, fabricates, alters, and installs a wide variety of electrical power, communication, and instrumental equipment, including controlling devices and wiring systems, electromechanical, technical equipment, radio networks, and power system failure responses.
- Determines necessary corrective action and completes restoration to service.
- Operates machinery, tools and complex test equipment as necessary.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Requires trade school or apprenticeship training with four years of applicable industrial electrical and electronics experience or equivalent combination.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance is required. Position may require entry into Material Access Areas(MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 CFR 709.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e., High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
Preferred Job Requirements
- The ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and data, sketches, wiring diagrams, manufacturer's guides and oral instructions is necessary.
- A working knowledge of the National Electrical Codes and electrical safe work practices is essential.
- Subject to requirements of obtaining an appropriate Commercial Driver's License.
