About the role

The Industrial Electrician/Instrumentation Tech position is based at Sonoco's President's Island Memphis facility in Memphis, TN. The wage range for this position is from Level 1 starting at $34.90 up to Level 8 at $47.29, based on experience. The shift is either a 11P-7A or a 12-hour 7P-7A schedule (3,2,2 rotation).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance as assigned daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
  • Sign out all parts taken from the storeroom and return any that were not used.
  • Fill out work order details.
  • Help troubleshoot and repair operational equipment as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts on maintenance effectiveness to eliminate breakdowns and increase equipment reliability.
  • Inspect assigned equipment to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
  • Verify all safety devices (guards, control circuit devices, stop blocks, etc.) on assigned equipment are always intact and properly secured.
  • Follow all energy isolation requirements.

Requirements

  • 5 years industrial/commercial electrician experience.
  • Journeyman License or Industrial Electrician License required within 6 months of employment.
  • Vocational training preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and electrical issues.
  • Read electrical prints and perform job layouts for electrical devices and circuitry.
  • Pneumatic control or hydraulic system experience preferred.
  • Familiar with the use of a welder and an oxy-acetylene torch.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications
