About the role
The Position
The Position at Roanoke College is for a motivated electrical helper to join the campus facilities team. The role involves assisting with electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance, helping diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems, performing routine inspections, and supporting the installation and maintenance of lighting, wiring, and electrical devices.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Helping in diagnosing electrical problems and participating in troubleshooting.
- Assisting with routine inspections and electrical system checks.
- Safely and effectively using tools and equipment.
- Learning and following electrical codes and standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed.
- Aid in setting up and maintaining electrical systems.
- Support the installation and maintenance of lighting, wiring, and electrical devices.
- Help with safety checks and inspections of electrical equipment.
- Participate in electrical projects, including wiring and panel installations.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure work is performed efficiently and safely.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
- A strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and the ability to follow directions.
- Good physical condition to perform tasks that may require lifting and working in various conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A valid Virginia driver's license and near clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends for on call rotations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a related field preferred.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems.

Benefits
This position is eligible for full college benefits and works a core schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Friday.

$22.00 to $28.00 per hour
