Responsibilities
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing all emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterrupted power source (UPS) systems, air compressors, Electrical Distribution Equipment, switches, pumps, valves, air handlers, lighting fixtures, transformers, and electrical motors.
- Coordinating and assisting with outside 3rd party contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance oversees to ensure compliance, may be expected to procure parts and services.
- Managing inventory and maintaining proper levels of supplies and equipment to accomplish work orders.
- Testing electrical circuits in wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
- Maintaining and documenting Safety Committee and Compliance Regulations Reports.
- Inspecting building facilities to identify maintenance needs, ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the facility.
- Inspecting and performing safety tests on a variety of electrical equipment.
- Performing preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined intervals/schedules in a timely manner and documenting maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed.
- Recognizing and correcting potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicating this to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, mask, hearing protection, and gloves as needed.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of work-related tools and equipment such as power saws, drills, air compressors, and various hand tools required.
- Maintaining fire detection and fire suppression systems.
- Maintaining and repairing outside lighting as appropriate.
- Performing/Assisting co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, Plumbing, and/or Heating/Air Conditioning work.
- Snow Removal.
- Assist other departments/units in times of Emergency and Disaster.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One years completed of an approved apprenticeship program training (Preferred).
- Graduate of a trade or vocational school with courses in electricity and blueprint reading (Preferred).
- Three to four years Electrician Experience (Preferred).
- Journeyman Electrician - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation within 3 Years (Required).
- Master Electrician License - State Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Required).
