Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent; a two-year degree from an accredited trade school is preferred.
- Electrician’s License is preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Minimum six years of on-the-job experience with specialized equipment such as fusion splicers and OTDR test equipment.
Skills
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls.
- Read blueprints and schematics.
- Leadership ability to direct skilled workers or helpers.
- Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and tools.
- Extensive understanding of electrical systems and interpretation of test results.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all electrical devices, including new construction and installation of new equipment.
- Respond to maintenance requests and report status to the electrical foreman.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems at all levels.
- Make repairs in compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Repair and maintain equipment.
- Install and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or school personnel.
Work Environment
The work environment is moderate in noise level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit.
