Electrician

Department: Maintenance and Facilities Department | 235 days worked (12 months) | Exempt

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent; a two-year degree from an accredited trade school is preferred.
• Electrician’s License is preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Minimum six years of on-the-job experience with specialized equipment such as fusion splicers and OTDR test equipment.

Skills

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls.
• Read blueprints and schematics.
• Leadership ability to direct skilled workers or helpers.
• Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and tools.
• Extensive understanding of electrical systems and interpretation of test results.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all electrical devices, including new construction and installation of new equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests and report status to the electrical foreman.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems at all levels.
• Make repairs in compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Repair and maintain equipment.
• Install and troubleshoot electrical systems.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or school personnel.

Work Environment

The work environment is moderate in noise level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit.
