Typical Duties
- Complies with National Electrical Code and company standards when wiring equipment, following all applicable safety policies and codes.
- Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.
- Uses a variety of electrician's power and hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
- Installs, maintains and operates electrical systems, equipment, and appliances, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, electric gate crossings, signals, switches, or other equipment.
- Locates and diagnoses problems in the electrical system or equipment.
- Records and reports inspections, repairs performed and equipment replaced.
Minimum Qualifications
- Develop, read, understand, and interpret schematics and blueprints and to do standard computations;
- Knowledge of NEC and electrical/wiring principles;
- building codes, local, state and federal regulations on electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Act responsively to customer inquiries and requests;
- Manage and accurately track material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities;
- Work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance, to work independently and as a team, and to build effective working relationships;

- Use of own tools may be required;

Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical/other training
Certificates or Licenses Required
- The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements: State Electrician License
Physical Requirements
- Using fine motor coordination, concentration, and good vision to differentiate between colors
- Bending, kneeling, and stooping, and maneuvering in and around work areas
- May lift or move boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds
- Working in confined spaces
- Climbing ladders
Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with limited privacy and exposure to noise from others conducting business.
- The remainder of work is performed on job sites in the field, driving to and from worksite.
- Employees may be exposed to hazardous equipment, toxic substances, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
