About the role
MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is seeking a qualified Electrician to support the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrades project at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center.
General Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or institutional electrical construction, with at least 2 years on federal or healthcare facility projects.
- Familiarity with VA Master Specifications, NFPA 70 (NEC), and federal safety protocols is essential.
Functional Responsibility
- Install, maintain, and inspect electrical and Telecommunications systems in accordance with VA specifications and federal standards.
- Support low-voltage systems (fire alarm, nurse call, access control) in coordination with specialty trades.
- Install cable tray, conduit, and support systems for low-voltage telecommunications equipment.
- Read and interpret telecom plans, electrical one-lines, riser diagrams, and VA construction drawings.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, VA design guides, and infection control risk assessment (ICRA) protocols.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and maintain clean, hazard-free work zones.
- Document as-built conditions and redline drawings for turnover packages.
- Support commissioning, testing, and final inspection walkthroughs with VA CORs and QA/QC teams.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Level Electrician certification desired.
- Demonstrated experience on VA, DoD, or other federal healthcare projects.
- Proficient in conduit bending, wire pulling, panel terminations, and equipment grounding.
- Familiar with seismic anchoring, bonding, and bracing of electrical systems.
- Skilled in QA/QC documentation, punch list resolution, and redline markups.
- Able to work in occupied healthcare environments with sensitivity to patient safety and infection control.
- Understanding of VA Master Construction Specifications and ANSI/TIA-606-C labeling standards.
- Experience with multi-trade coordination and adherence to federal construction sequencing and phasing plans.
Required
- OSHA 30 Certification (Construction Industry).
- Current TB test results (IGRA).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass federal background screening for site access.
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash PPE, and NFPA 70E safety practices.
Desired Certifications
- CPR/First Aid.
- NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training.
- Manufacturer training on lighting control systems, switchgear, or backup power systems.
- USACE EM 385-1-1 Safety Training (preferred for federal sites).
- Scissor Lift certification.
