About the role
The City of Saint Paul is seeking a licensed Electrician to perform electrical work involving the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communication systems. This role supports critical public infrastructure, including traffic signals, streetlights, and other City-operated systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and communication systems.
- Work on high- and low-voltage electrical equipment, fiber optic systems, transformers, control panels, and microprocessors.
- Install and maintain traffic signals, streetlights, pumps, and related electrical infrastructure.
- Operate aerial lifts, ladders, and specialized tools safely.
- Perform facility electrical construction, maintenance, and repair.
- Follow OSHA regulations and City safety procedures.
- Assist with snow emergency operations, including plowing, when required.
- Work day or evening shifts with occasional after-hours call-backs.
Qualifications
- Mining Minnesota Class A Journey-Level Electrician License required.
- Valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License (or equivalent).
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and participate in random DOT drug and alcohol testing.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and safety standards.
