Electrician

FLSA: Non Exempt

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Terms of Employment: Twelve month employment (261 days). Salary to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to the Classified Agreement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Five years of experience as a journeyman electrician or commercial experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
• Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently.
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Effective communication skills and team oriented.

Essential Job Functions

• Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, wiring, panels and disconnects, and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
• Recommend electrical repairs to be performed by outside contractors.
• Perform all electrical repair work in accordance with county and municipal code.
• Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase and maintain the inventory of district‑owned tools, equipment, electrical supplies, and light bulbs.
• Complete repair orders in a timely fashion per industry standards.
• Estimate costs of electrical repair projects in terms of labor and material.
• Examine electrical equipment in district‑owned or operated facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance and safety.
• Plan, install, and complete electrical systems for special projects as needed.

Other Job Functions

• Work overtime as directed.
• Attend meetings as directed.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.
