Electrician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team. This position will install, troubleshoot, and repair facility electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, apparatus, and devices. The ideal candidate should have a journeyman status, completed an apprenticeship program, and have at least ten years of related experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment
• Connects power supply wire to machines and building equipment, and connects cables and wires between machine and equipment
• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables
• Maintains Data Center-electrical service for computer equipment
• Responsible for maintaining all electrical distribution systems within the buildings
• Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors and position sensing devices
• Replaces faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards
• Responsible for maintaining building lighting, task lighting on furniture systems, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, and emergency lights/exit lights
• Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings
• Performs preventative maintenance tasks on all electrical utilities and equipment
• Attends classes and seminars on electrical components, distribution, and system design to update skills
• Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities
• Maintain, organize, and control inventory supplies, tools, and equipment
• Clean and organize shop area
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and materials
• Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work

Qualifications

• Successfully completed Apprenticeship program and ten or more years’ related experience and training
• Journeyman status
• Basic skills for Variable frequency drives
• Must be versed in the use of voltmeters, amp meters, ohm meters, Meggars, and amp probes
• Must be able to use interpret the data
• Three (3) or more years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
