Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Use appropriate tools, relevant plans, and written and verbal instructions to service, replace, inspect, and test electrical systems, equipment, and components, and to detect and resolve malfunctions and deficiencies.
- Diagnose causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or system repairs.
- Interpret electronic, electrical, and mechanical schematics and drawings.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, and a wide variety of electrical fixtures.
- Plan, organize, and oversee electrical installations and repairs in residential and commercial properties following all applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Supervise a team of electricians and provide guidance and training as needed relevant to general procedures, safety procedures, internal controls, and machine operations.
- Ensure that work is performed efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Cookordinate with Project Managers, Clients, and other contractors to ensure timely project completion.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
- Inspect jobs upon completion to ensure area is clean.
Safety Specific
- Requiring employees and subcontractors to abide by company’s safety manual, subcontractor’s specific safety manual and all applicable federal, state, local and country-specific health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, rules, and ordinances.
- Ensuring implementation of all company safety documentation.
- Support all incident, accident and near-miss investigations and ensure all required reports (to include corrective actions) are completed and distributed accordingly.
- Consulting with Director of Safety during job-site observations and audits to review and evaluate any identified safety observations or recommendations.
- Undertaking prompt corrective action(s) on any health, safety, and environmental recommendation(s).
Qualifications and Other Skills and Abilities
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience and proficient knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Proven experience as an electrician in residential and / or commercial settings.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to supervise, oversee, train, and coach the Electrical Apprentices.
- Ability to coordinate and supervise projects as assigned.
- Excellent problem-solving and problem resolution skills.
- Able to learn quickly, follow instructions, and work safely with minimal instructions.
- Must have OSHA 30 training (will be provided if not currently certified).
- Possess a valid Driver’s license.
Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work in an environment which may include fumes, odors, chemicals, sawdust, and ash.
- Ability to work in an environment with noises in the range of 30-85 db.
- Ability to lift or push up to thirty (30) pounds, or in excess thereof, with the use of proper equipment or assistance.
- Ability to use hand tools safely.
- Ability to use electric tools safely.
- Ability to walk up and down steps, climb ladders, staging and scaffolding and on uneven ground.
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, stretch and work in tight spaces.
