GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs electrical work on U.S. Navy shore facilities, waterborne vessels, surface ships and/or submarines. Tasks will be related to inspections, repairs, modernization and/or alterations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of experience in shipboard electrical installations
- Completion of a formal related course of study through a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program or an apprenticeship program
- Basic experience with Voltmeters, Ammeters, Ohmmeters, Megohmmeters, Light Loss meters, Optical Time Delay Reflectometers (OTDRs), and general hand tools
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, written technical instructions and manuals
- Able to read and understand material safety data sheets (SDS)
- Basic understanding of electrical theory
- Able to correctly wire simple devices, such as power/lighting panels, power/lighting distribution boxes, small terminal boxes, outlet receptacles, etc., with minimal supervision
- Graduate of a NAVSEA approved Cableway Installation and Inspection course (ET1 only)
- Full competency in Navy shipboard fiber optic methods and is currently, or has previously been, certified under NAVSEA Drawing 8477552B, which meets the requirements of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-123 and MIL-STD-1678
- Able to perform work autonomously, with minimal guidance, and have an expectation to assist other job requirements beyond the role of E1/ET1
- Prepared to perform an unassisted thorough practical demonstration of skills that may include tool and part identification, mock assembly and testing
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs troubleshooting and/or testing of various electrical, systems, circuits, controls, instruments and equipment, onboard military shore facilities, Navy ships/vessels to include submarines and/or ship’s components and documents test requirements
- Conducts voltage and other electrical safety checks
- Performs connections/hook-ups to panels, switches, and boxes
- Assists with cleaning up work area (removing debris from work area)

Wage Range: $22.00-$34.00
