Electrician
Job Summary
Perform installation, testing, inspection, prevention, and repair duties involving electric light and power distribution circuits, controls, and appliances throughout the hospital buildings and grounds. Accountable for maintaining the hospital's electrical distribution systems according to national, state, and local electrical codes and hospital regulatory agencies. Maintain a safe electrical environment for hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Receive work orders and coordinate work to fit schedule assigned by Lead electrician
- Estimate time and materials required on work order
- Maintain hospital nurse call system, paging, mechanical alarm, and medical gas alarm systems
- Repair electric motors, controllers, and other auxiliary electrical devices
- Make emergency repairs to medical equipment
- Install new wiring and machinery, working from prints and diagrams to determine layout, location, and specifications of items to be installed
- Bend and run conduit
- Install concealed wiring
- Isolate and repair defective circuits as required
- Dismantle electrical machinery and break connections, replace defective parts, and reassemble and test for proper operation
- Check and repair lighting systems
- Maintain and repair central clock system
- Take periodic inventory of stock and requisition supplies as needed to maintain adequate supply
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations
- Maintain CATV cabling to determine where problems or damage may have occurred
- Assists the fire alarm testing company as needed to maintain hospital fire alarm system
- Assists other trades as required by overload or emergency situation
- Assist with snow removal as necessary
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Trade School or apprenticeship
- 3 years experience in commercial and industrial
- Massachusetts Journeyman’s Electrical License and Massachusetts Drivers license
