About the role
The Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is looking for a diligent Electrician 1 who enjoys performing hands-on electrical work. This role allows you to work on important systems that keep facilities running safely and efficiently. Your expertise will help to maintain reliable power for the mission at Fort Indiantown Gap.
Responsibilities
This position supports electrical operations by installing, repairing, and maintaining systems and equipment throughout the facility. As a Electrician 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Electrical Installation: Install, alter, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures
- Problem Diagnosis: Locate power failures and short circuits to restore proper function
- System Upgrades: Replace circuit breakers and run new electrical lines as needed
- Fixture Work: Install wire, lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, and ballasts
- Equipment Handling: Install and service air conditioners and prepare material lists for assigned jobs
- Blueprint Reading: Read blueprints and lay out electrical conduit for lighting and power
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program; or Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement: This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license. You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap and be able to perform essential job functions.

Schedule
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be required as necessary.
