About the role

The Electrical/Instrumentation Technician position involves routine maintenance work alongside journeymen-level technicians, as well as performing duties independently. The role also includes hands-on experiences and classroom instruction through International Paper's Global Manufacturing Training program.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, configure, maintain: PLC systems, single loop controls for various field systems
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot various manufacturers' analog and SMART instruments and analytical equipment
  • Shop and field repair of final control elements such as pneumatic valves, electric valves, solenoid operated valves, calibration of pneumatic and SMART valve positioners
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams & electrical schematics
  • Understand and follow NFPA70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards
  • Calibrate and maintain control instrumentation AND Electrician duties
  • Troubleshoot, install, repair AC and DC drive systems as well as stand-alone process drives of various manufacturers
  • Install, maintain various electrical components such as mechanical limit, proximity, photoelectric, speed and reflective switches
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on 480v thru 13.8kv power distribution switchgear
  • Understand and follow NFPA70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Eligible for employment in the US
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in INSTRUMENTATION AND ELECTRICAL systems
  • Willingness to undergo technical online testing, interview, and a formal hands-on assessment of skills
  • Completion of a drug screen and job-related health assessment as a condition of employment
  • Ability to work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Availability to work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Availability to work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
  • Wear required safety equipment

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Associates degree and/or certification(s) in Industrial Maintenance or other related disciplines within instrumentation/electrical
  • Five (5) years of work experience in INSTRUMENTATION AND ELECTRICAL systems
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment
