Electrical Test Technician (Shipyard Test Organization)

Your ability to contribute and assist this team will be built from your past experience combined with our building block training modules. The Quonset Point Test department, D972, is hiring electrical technicians to perform acceptance testing in support of Virginia and Columbia class submarine construction.

Responsibilities

• Use of electrical test equipment such as volt/ohm/multi-function meters, power supplies, light sources, etc.
• Continuity checks of copper and fiber optic cabling
• Insulation resistance & megger testing
• Ground verification
• Tag out of electrical equipment
• Work with energized and de-energized circuits
• Inspection of cable marking, termination and installation
• Recording of data in accordance with technical work documents
• Troubleshooting of test failures, followed by authoring of resolutions for Trades
• Work individually or as part of a team
• Work in as well as promote a safety conscious environment
• This work will be performed both in the shop and onboard submarines under construction.
• Technicians are trained and required to obtain “electrical test director” qualification.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent OR Minimum of 2 years related technical experience
• Minimum 1 year of electrical trade and/or electronic theory experience
• Able to work in confined spaces and in areas that are not climate controlled
• Individuals will be required to possess their own basic hand tools
• Available to work all shifts
• Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a relevant electrical occupation
