Electrical Test Engineer
Job Summary
This role focuses on expanding and improving a Python-based GUI that automates production testing. You will build and integrate software interfaces for hardware tools like logic analyzers and power supplies, do hands-on electrical work to wire and connect test equipment, and validate test procedures on the bench before automating them.
Responsibilities
- Expand, maintain, and enhance a Python-based GUI for automated production testing.
- Build and integrate interfaces for hardware tools such as logic analyzers and power supplies using their open APIs.
- Perform hands-on electrical work, including wiring, rewiring, and connecting test equipment.
- Validate test procedures on a benchtop setup before automating them.
- Focus on backend development and integration, with some UI cleanup and refinement.
- Work with the engineering team to make sure the test automation system meets production needs.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a relevant role, with additional experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with hardware tools such as logic analyzers and power supplies.
- Experience integrating instruments through cabling, APIs, or both. Maintenance or repair experience with these tools also counts.
- Experience using tool APIs for instrument control and automation.
- Experience in electrical test engineering, test development, or lab-based R&D.
- Able to integrate multiple instruments and manage cabling.
- A self-starter who can independently drive development and equipment integration.
- Preferred:
- Experience building GUIs in Python, for example with Python GUI libraries or add-ons.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks such as pytest.
- Knowledge of oscilloscopes for test verification.
- Experience with Python libraries of any kind, which makes it easier to pick up the GUI library used here.
Additional Information
This is an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of an extension or conversion to a permanent role if business continues to grow. Relocation assistance is not provided. Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $52.88/hr.
