About the role
The Electrical Technician II position involves assembling, evaluating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus. Key responsibilities include testing and troubleshooting heaters, correcting and re-testing to verify corrective actions, communicating with electrical engineering for process improvements, monitoring quality issues, and promoting Astec's core values.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.
- Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical and electrical circuit blueprints and diagrams.
- Perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.
- Demonstrate Astec processes in all aspects of the manufacturing electrical department, including panel room, construction manufacturing, and industrial manufacturing.
- Test and troubleshoot heaters to ensure equipment is ready before shipping to customer sites.
- Correct and re-test to verify corrective action was successful.
- Communicate with electrical engineering recommendations to correct or improve processes.
- Maintain quality control by encouraging postponement of equipment from being shipped if quality issues are identified.
- Achieve quality results aligned with Astec's vision and mission.
- Promote and educate others on Astec's core values.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and/or accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program.
- 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing to understand equipment and process procedures.
- Detail-oriented workmanship and ability to follow directions with little to no supervision.
- Experience working cross-functionally and as a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in troubleshooting to evaluate and correct concerns before testing.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical school or skilled trades program accreditation.
- 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing.
- Detail-oriented workmanship.
- Ability to follow directions with little to no supervision.
- Experience working cross-functionally and as a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in troubleshooting.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electrical circuit blueprints and diagrams.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards for electrical work.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
- Good communication skills to work with electrical engineering and other departments.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality control.
