About the Role

The Electrical Engineer II designs, maintains, troubleshoots, and improves electrical control systems in a high-volume wire and cable manufacturing environment. This hands-on role provides production support while leading automation initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, quality, and operational efficiency. The position requires strong PLC programming and industrial controls expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering, and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical and controls support to manufacturing operations to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and automation systems.
• Design, program, modify, and optimize machine control systems.
• Lead automation and continuous improvement projects.
• Support equipment commissioning and startup.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain electrical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards.
• Train maintenance and production personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of industrial automation/manufacturing experience.
• Experience with capital projects and commissioning.
• Advanced knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Schneider PLC platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Schneider Modicon).
• Experience with FactoryTalk View, WinCC, VFDs, servo systems, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP, and industrial networking.
• Willingness to work in a hands-on wire and cable manufacturing environment.
• Experience with extrusion, continuous process equipment, or industrial automation preferred.
• Knowledge of robotics and Industry 4.0 is a plus.
