Location: Michigan City-South Employment Status: Salary Full-Time Function: Manufacturing Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000 Target Bonus: 10% Position Summary Design, develop, and support electrical systems for commercial truck upfitting applications, including power distribution, control systems, lighting, auxiliary equipment, hydraulic controls, PTO systems, telematics, and customer-specific electrical integrations. Support engineering, production, and field service teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant vehicle builds. Primary Responsibilities Design vehicle electrical systems and harnesses for truck-mounted equipment.Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings.Develop Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering documentation.Specify electrical components including:Wire and cable assembliesConnectors and terminalsRelays and contactorsCircuit protection devicesSwitches and controlsSensors and controllersLighting SystemsIntegrate truck chassis electrical systems with upfit equipment.Support CAN bus, multiplexing, and vehicle communication systems.Troubleshoot electrical issues during prototype, production, and field service phases.Ensure designs comply with applicable DOT, SAE, FMVSS, NFPA, and customer requirements.Work closely with production, purchasing, quality, and sales teams to support project execution.Manage engineering changes and support continuous improvement initiatives.Conduct testing and validation of electrical systems and components.Provide technical support to customers, service personnel, and manufacturing teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.3+ years of experience in electrical design, vehicle systems, mobile equipment, or truck upfitting preferred.Proficiency with electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical).Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.Knowledge of 12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC and mobile power distribution systems.Experience with BOM creation and engineering documentation.Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.Familiarity with electrical safety standards and industry regulations.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
