Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor – Electrical is responsible for supervising and directing routine and emergency electrical maintenance for all areas of the Lucky Friday. This includes scheduling, coordinating, directing, and supervising electricians performing maintenance activities requiring troubleshooting, inspections, testing and repairs of all electronic and electrical equipment and facilities. This also includes coordinating electrical department activities with mine and concentrator operations, and other maintenance operations ensuring that adequate scheduling needs for parts, materials and manpower to generate timely repair has been met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all electrical inspections, testing and repairs are performed and recorded as required by MSHA.
  • Administer activities to ensure compliance with all Federal and State laws, company policies and procedures and the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Manage the work activities of hourly electricians to effectively implement electrical maintenance plans, ensuring safe work behaviors and practices.
  • Ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance and repair of electronic and electrical equipment and facilities to maximize availability.
  • Analyze operational/maintenance requirements and adjust priorities as required.
  • Monitor proper operation and safety of electrical systems throughout the mine.
  • Communicate status of work activities as needed with department manager or other departments.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of electrical contractors.
  • Prepare or review reports as required to evaluate and document activities.
  • Cookinate projects and responsibilities assigned to the department.
  • Responsible for electrical employee and contractor performance in the areas of safety, environmental, efficiency, productivity, quality, planning, and cost.
  • Plan, organize, manage, and supervise all electrical and instrumentation maintenance operations.
  • Responsible for the reliability and integrity of all electrical systems including mine and concentrator power distribution, motors, transformers, instrumentation, sensors/analyzers, PLC’s, Leaky Feeder, electrical special projects, radio coverage, etc.
  • Inspect daily operations and projects in process and upon completion to ensure the quality and reliability of work performed.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required.
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
  • Completes required paperwork, including shift reports, requests for materials, timecards, etc.
  • Attends meetings as required, including training and department meetings.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised, per the bargaining agreement, in the case of an emergency, when necessary to instruct employees in their duties, for minor work that is unreasonable to assign to a bargaining unit employee, or to provide training for salaried personnel.
  • Follows and understands MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOP and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities.
  • Leads by example by adhering to rules and regulations and ensuring compliance to rules and regulations established by the Lucky Friday.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team.
  • Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Conducts activities and work in an environmentally responsible manner. Is aware of procedures to minimize impacts to the environment.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Five to seven years’ experience in mining or a related industry or degree in Electrical or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Previous experience in supervising and directing the work of others.
  • Journeyman Electrician certification in Idaho or a reciprocal state preferred.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
