About the Role
As an Electrical Superintendent at Bird Electric (a Black & Veatch company), you will interface with and monitor supervision and craft employees, as well as assigned Subcontractor Supervision and field Engineering. You will oversee direct hire craft productivity and performance, and ensure subcontractors adhere to safety, quality, schedule, and performance expectations. Your role involves providing craft supervisors with the necessary information and technical direction to complete projects safely, on time, and with high quality. You will ensure schedule and project expectations are clearly communicated and coordinate the interpretation of technical requirements.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, verify, and report on construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule; track and report on project schedule activities and commodity installation.
- Assist craft/subcontractors in resolving problems related to drawings, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety.
- Monitor discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost; report to Construction Manager and Field Project Controls Manager and take actions to maintain targets.
- Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor a 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope; create corrective plans to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
- Verify that all material, manpower, and other resources needed to support the 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
- Develop, monitor, and report on completion of craft/subcontractor punch list activities.
- Maintain a daily log for site records.
- Review all craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Monitor supplier Technical Service Representative (supplier) daily log and review/approve their timesheets.
- Communicate and coordinate assigned craft/subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other discipline Superintendents and Construction Manager.
- Monitor assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract scope and schedule requirements; develop stable working relationships with subcontractors.
- Assist Field Subcontract Administrator in preparing extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs).
- Assist the Construction Engineer in compiling or answering Contractor Information Requests (CIRs); compile and answer CIRs if required.
- Administer the execution of work packages and equipment installation.
- Develop and distribute a Job Hazard Analysis for major erection packages within scope.
- Identify potential backcharges and out-of-scope issues; report to Construction Manager and support commercial recovery process.
- Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and change management associated with implementing improvements.
- Act in the capacity of a "supervisor" without management responsibility for personnel.
- Supervise direct hire projects general foreman, foreman, and CM projects subcontractors, superintendents, and construction engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction field leadership experience on equivalent projects.
- Must have distribution experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction Management or Engineering degree.
- Completion of cost control, back charges, and schedule training.
- Completion of construction management and contract administration training.
- OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.

- Typical construction site environment: cramped work spaces, awkward positions, very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures, and exposure to inclement weather (dust, wind, snow, rain).
