About the Role
This position requires mobilizing to the project site in Harriman, TN for the duration of the project. The Electrical Superintendent - Instrumentation will interface with and monitor direct-hire supervision and/or major subcontractor supervision and field engineering. The role ensures project requirements and expectations are met regarding craft and supervisory performance, productivity, and subcontractor performance. Responsibilities include providing technical direction, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and coordinating with union agreements where applicable.
For union projects, the role involves ensuring compliance with Black & Veatch National Maintenance and Project Labor Union Agreements, understanding local union agreements, and establishing working relationships with local union representatives. The superintendent may stand in for the construction manager during absences and mentor other discipline superintendents.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Construction Manager in ensuring adherence to Black & Veatch Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs.
- Report inappropriate conduct by site personnel to the Construction Manager and project Safety Manager.
- Monitor, verify, and report on construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule; track and report on project schedule activities and commodity installation.
- Assist craft, subcontractors, and superintendents in resolving problems related to drawings, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety.
- Monitor discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost; report to Construction Manager and Field Project Controls Manager and take necessary actions to maintain targets.
- Ensure adherence to Black & Veatch standards and lessons learned; communicate issues and new project lessons learned for future implementation.
- Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor a 3-Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope; create corrective plans to meet progress and productivity targets.
- Verify availability of materials, manpower, and other resources needed to support the 3-Week Look Ahead Schedule.
- Develop, monitor, and report on completion of craft/subcontractor punch list activities.
- Maintain a daily log for site records.
- Review craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Monitor supplier Technical Service Representative (TSR) daily log and review/approve their timesheets.
- Coordinate assigned craft/subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other discipline Superintendents and the Construction Manager.
- Monitor assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract scope and schedule requirements; develop stable working relationships with subcontractors.
- Assist Field Subcontract Administrator in preparing extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs).
- Assist the Construction Engineer in compiling or answering Contractor Information Requests (CIRs).
- Administer the execution of work packages and equipment installation.
- Develop and distribute Job Hazard Analyses for major erection packages within scope.
- Identify potential back charges and out-of-scope issues; report to Construction Manager and support commercial recovery process.
- Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards applicable to duties and accountabilities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and change management.
- Act in the capacity of a "supervisor" without management responsibility for direct reports.
- Supervise direct-hire projects' general foremen, foremen, and CM projects' subcontractors, superintendents, and field engineers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on equivalent projects.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
- OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
