Position Overview

The Field Superintendent plays a key leadership role in planning, directing, and coordinating all on-site electrical construction activities. This position requires a proactive, team-oriented leader who can collaborate effectively with managers, clients, suppliers, and field personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise construction activities, including methods, sequencing, manpower needs, material requirements, equipment, and work schedules.
  • Lead, train, and mentor field staff while fostering a strong team environment.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of multiple mid-sized projects through assigned Electrical Foremen.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and maintain construction schedules, monitor milestones, and ensure critical path activities stay on track.
  • Communicate site issues, schedule changes, conflicts, and quality concerns to the Project Manager and owner in a timely manner.
  • Identify and resolve field construction challenges.
  • Cookordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, inspections, and other requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with all safety program requirements; ensure weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks are completed and corrective actions are taken as needed.
  • Support the Safety Department with incident or accident investigations.
  • Ensure all subcontractors understand and fulfill their contractual scopes, schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Assist the Project Manager with quality control, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and dispute resolution.
  • Work with Project Managers and owner representatives to ensure installation meets drawings and specifications.
  • Support Project Managers with claim negotiations, change management, and cost/schedule forecasting.
  • Contribute to project closeout activities and ensure punch lists are completed promptly.
  • Mentor Project Associates assigned to the project.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of experience as an Electrical Superintendent or Electrical General Foreman (or higher).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with mid-sized tenant buildouts and commercial renovation projects preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and supervision of small to mid-sized teams.
  • Strong organization, multitasking, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency preferred.
