(Electrical) Site Observation Specialist
About the role
The employee performs job site observations of Electrical systems to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, designs, codes, standards, and regulations. The employee documents site and field conditions and participates in discussions to determine appropriate resolution to nonconformance. The employee should have advanced knowledge of the industry, codes, guides and standards. In addition, the employee should be able to work with a moderate amount of independence but may require occasional supervision and mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Performs job site observations to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, designs, codes, standards, and regulations.
- Documents site and field conditions and participates in discussions to determine appropriate resolution to nonconformance.
- Provides site observation technical information and assistance to engineers or team leaders.
- Makes recommendations as to the feasibility of certain systems or equipment and their application.
- Attends preliminary job meetings and helps evaluate scope of work to be performed.
- Aids in the preparation of system layout, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications based upon site observation.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and construction specifications.
- Prepares clear and accurate responses and reports to contractors who are submitting documents for review.
Requirements
Necessary training, licenses and/or certifications. Discipline specific certifications preferred. Valid driver’s license.
Skills and abilities
- Understanding of the installation and construction administration of Electrical Systems.
- Advanced knowledge of the industry, codes, guides and standards.
- Able to work with a moderate amount of independence but may require occasional supervision and mentoring.
- Thorough knowledge of the computer database (i.e. EVOCO, Plan Grid etc...).
- Knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints and construction specifications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Effective problem solving skills.
- Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities, and organizational needs.
- Self-starter, proactive, and willing to help others when needed.
- Able to take direction and constructive criticism from others.
- Able to reliably and predictably carry out the functions of this job.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years’ experience in the design, installation and construction administration of systems.
- Relevant site observation or inspection experience preferred.
