About the role

One of our clients is seeking an experienced Electrical Service Manager / Business Development professional to lead the growth, performance, and daily operations of their electrical service department. This position combines service operations leadership, business development, sales, estimating, customer relationship management, and technical electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the electrical service department, including scheduling, dispatch coordination, workflow, and technician utilization.
  • Develop new business by identifying target accounts and building relationships with commercial and industrial customers.
  • Generate service agreements, maintenance contracts, and project opportunities.
  • Prepare or oversee estimates, quotations, and proposals for service work, repairs, preventive maintenance, tenant improvements, and small-to-medium projects.
  • Coordinate with operations, estimating, project management, and field teams to ensure accurate scope, pricing, staffing, and execution.
  • Monitor service revenue, gross margins, labor productivity, backlog, and close rates.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop service technicians and support personnel.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and drive repeat business.
  • Review work orders, job costing, material usage, and billing documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Support strategic planning for service department growth, market development, key accounts, and pricing.
  • Travel locally for customer meetings, site visits, and business development activities as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial or industrial electrical service, construction, or related operations experience.
  • Proven experience leading field teams, service operations, or project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, account management, estimating, or sales within the electrical/construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting, maintenance practices, codes, and standards.
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, and scopes of work and develop accurate pricing.
  • Experience with scheduling, dispatching, service management systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, job costing, pricing, margins, and financial performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, customer service, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience growing an electrical service department or service revenue.
  • Existing commercial/industrial customer relationships.
  • Electrical license or advanced electrical credentials.

Work Environment

This is a combination of office, field, and customer-site work. The position may require local travel for customer meetings, site visits, networking, and business development activities. Occasional after-hours responsiveness may be required for urgent service or customer needs.
