Electrical Reliability & Projects Engineer
Responsibilities
Daily review of equipment stops and identification of previous or current day failures.
Short- and long-term critical thinking for temporary or permanent repairs and prompt attention to organize planning and execution to improve overall reliability.
Evaluate failures, collaborate with engineering teams, and implement ideas to improve protections schemes that avoid re-occurrence.
Troubleshoot problems in the plant by studying and determining root causes of failures.
Provide technical advice and expertise during maintenance and operations.
Continued assurance that equipment specifications are reviewed and documented.
Works hands on to be actively involved in key equipment inspections and overhauls.
Validate as found/as built machine specifications with pictures and documented inspection reports.
Study operational data and compare with equipment data to eliminate historical problems in the plant.
Provide additional leadership and support to the plant when technical services team has a plant improvement project.
Participate in, and assist the electrical and instrumentation teams on collaboration with technical services team for plant improvement projects.
Ensure proper operation and care of equipment, correct lubrication procedures, and protect the environment.
Monitor and continually refine preventative and predictive maintenance to feed the planning process for Preventative work.
Act on actions listed in technical report summaries.
Direct scheduling and assignment of predictive inspections.
Write, modify, and maintain a comprehensive list of PdM and PM inspections for routine and annual maintenance periods.
Collaborate with the Reliability Dept and act as a liaison to ensure prompt actions are taken when critical issues are discovered related to vibration and tribology concerns.
Organization of PdM KPI which demonstrates results of the work through cost avoidance.
Assist with mgmt. and supervision of the lubrication team and oil analysis programs for all motors and transformers.
Maintains and modifies, as needed, the plant engineering systems and library.
Motivates and engages all levels of employees to assist in generating innovative ways to drive continuous improvement and increased reliability.
Strict review downtime codes and prompt communication with process team to ensure accurate OEE and Reliability data and history.
Fosters a culture of reliability. Develops and provides training to personnel so that they can support safety, equipment reliability, and process efficiency.
Share reliability results with the maintenance team.
Supports the maintenance team and participates in the emergency on-call rotation for plant coverage.
Will be trained to provide coverage for the Automation Engineer as needed.
Participation in the On-Call rotation for Electrical Maintenance

Qualifications
Minimum Education And Experience: - Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (Power/Controls Emphasis), Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or other related engineering fields. - Minimum Five years’ experience in cement, lime or similar process preferred. - Previous experience working in manufacturing or industrial setting preferred. - Must be able to work extended hours (up to 16 a day) and weekends if needed. - Must be able to work scheduled night shift during outages or other projects. - Must be able to understand and comply with Lockout/Tagout procedures and safety requirements. - Understanding of strategic management aspects of reliability engineering, its relationship to safety and quality, its impact on warranty programs, the consequences of failure, and the potential for liability. - Knowledge of cement production process, power distribution and motor controls, protective relay setup and breaker maintenance, VFD and DC drive maintenance, and instrumentation and process controls. - Knowledge of fluid systems (compressible and non-compressible), Vibration, Rotating equipment. - Computer software knowledge required including proficiency in Microsoft (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and AutoCAD. - Experience with or ability to quickly learn Project software and CMMS systems. - Ability to work under tight deadlines and to research to resolve ambiguous information effectively. - Self-starter, action oriented with the ability to direct, motivate and coach activities of others. - Willingness and motivation to accept feedback and continuously learn about electrical and instrumentation maintenance tests and procedures that ensure improvement of plant reliability. - Excellent work ethic - high standard of performance and production.
