Electrical Quality Control Technician

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Technician for Gaylor Electric interprets design packages and job site specifications to maintain quality control goals. This role ensures employee awareness of quality assurance responsibilities and upholds the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability in electrical installations. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, resourceful, and possesses strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and maintain quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Maintain quality control procedures for each stage of the manufacturing and/or installation process; conduct regular inspections, audits, and evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
• Collect data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is complete, organized, and accessible for audits.
• Perform improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
• Work closely with team members to address quality issues, resolve conflicts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with team members to address customer concerns and ensure satisfaction.
• Identify potential risks to product quality and mitigate risk through collaborative problem-solving and contingency plans.
• Participate in quality control meetings with the project team and/or customer.
• Maintain Quality and Commissioning Schedules on the jobsite.
• Communicate and manage open observations with installation teams.
• Promote Gaylor Core Values and foster a culture of quality throughout the organization.
• Partner with others to identify and meet Gaylor objectives and customer needs.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Apprenticeship completion or relevant craft electrician certification preferred.
• Three or more years in electrical work preferred.
• NFPA 70E certification or Journeymen license preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and AHJ requirements.
• Computer literate and able to learn Gaylor’s operating software.
• Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret design packages and job site specifications.
• Self-motivated and capable of working without direct supervision.
• Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

• May require working in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.).
• Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets).
• Must have required hand tools at all times while at the work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.).
• Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice.
• Must be able to work in noisy environments.
• Must remain calm in heightened emotional situations.
• Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness) when required.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead for extended periods.
• Ability to lift loads of up to 51 lbs.
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
• Ability to climb and use ladders and scaffolding of all types for extended periods.
• Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected).
• Ability to transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and access all levels of a building/structure, even if access is via OSHA-approved site construction ladders or stairs still under construction but deemed safe.
• Ability to work while constantly moving.
• Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment, fixtures, etc., while maintaining balance.
• Ability to use both hands simultaneously for tying knots and proper use of power equipment.
• Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
• Physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
