About the role
As a QA Engineer 1, you will be responsible for the successful development, implementation, and coordination of project QA/QC plans and documents. This includes conducting on-site/job site training, coaching, and auditing of job site QA/QC activities under the general oversight of an upper-level QA Engineer and in coordination with the QA/QC Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology or Associate of Applied Science Degree
- 5 years of hands-on field commissioning experience and a demonstrated aptitude for effective documentation
- Proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand one-lines, schematics, and drawings
- Knowledge of electrical terminology and components
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. (TN1 Visa sponsorship available for Canadian applicants only; no other employment Visa sponsorship provided)
Responsibilities
- Work with Preconstruction Managers and Project Managers at the beginning of projects to define QA/QC requirements and establish plans to complete QA/QC documentation and other deliverables.
- Create relational data sets such as equipment lists, equipment groups, feeders, feeder schedules, and commissioning classes from project construction drawings, electrical specifications, and submittals.
- With direction from an upper-level QA Engineer, complete detailed procedures and checklists to document that equipment is installed to specifications.
- Assist the QA Site Lead with establishing structure and training for generating field data and systems.
- Conduct field surveys, collect and enter data to ensure installations conform to applicable standards and customer requirements.
- Provide support materials or reports to Project Managers as required.
- Generate reports that document installation conformance to applicable standards and customer requirements.
- Support field QA/QC activities through research and addressing needs during the QA/QC process.
- Provide guidance to office and field teams to ensure construction activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed installations to ensure conformance to design, code, and equipment specifications.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
