Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Project Electrical Engineer to support the installation, modification, and startup of production and automation equipment across domestic and international manufacturing sites. This role is highly collaborative, floor-focused, and integral to ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time equipment installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute electrical and automated system installation, construction, debugging, troubleshooting, and startup activities with a focus on safety. Includes leading trades teams.
- Cover initial equipment setup and debugging prior to operational handoff. Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide direction for needed repairs or modifications.
- Identify opportunities to improve installation efficiency and implement best practices. Prepare, review, and update installation documentation, including drawings and checklists.
- Procure and expedite materials required for equipment builds and installations. Review and update part lists, specifications, and related engineering documentation.
- Understand use and set-up of machine controls for system analog and digital I/O requirements, control sequence logic, fail-safe states and recovery sequence digital and analog I/O.
Required Education & Skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (rare exceptions considered).
- At least 2-7 years of manufacturing or related experience.
- Knowledge of 480VAC and below power systems.
- Translates engineering solutions to requirements, then further to process and/or equipment designs which deliver required performance criteria as well as interpreting electrical drawings and schematics to aid in troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated commitment to job-site safety.
- Strong hands-on ability with tools, instruments, and alignment/measurement devices.
Desired Skills
- Experience with AutoCAD®, AutoCAD Electrical, Windows, and MS Office.
- PLC and motion control experience: Beckhoff, B&R, Allen-Bradley, PC-based systems.
- Knowledge of NEC/NFPA70/OSHA compliance. Manufacturing and/or construction environment experience with strong safety orientation.
- SCADA/HMI development, PID control theory, and electro-mechanical systems understanding.
Travel Requirements
- Typical travel can range from a few days to a few weeks during the project initiation phase. During the deployment phase of the project, travel may be full-time.
- Travel will be required to Corning Optical Fiber and Cable Manufacturing sites in North Carolina and potentially international.
Hours of Work/Work Schedule
40 hours+ M-F, adjusted hours and weekends may be required based on where the project is in the project life cycle.
Pay Range
The range for this position is $88,522 - $145,230 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
