About the Role

The MEP Systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection) Preconstruction Integration Manager at Clark Pacific is an integral role focused on leading and delivering objectives during the design and procurement phases of projects, with an emphasis on electrical systems. This position involves proactive development and management of conceptual and actual estimates, design-phase processes, scheduling, issue resolution, delivery strategies, procurement, and transition to construction. As a vertically integrated manufacturer, this role also supports supply chain management strategies and provides value alternative solutions considering cost, schedule, maintenance, and life-cycle implications.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects, and proprietary information.
  • Design & Preconstruction Leadership: Lead and integrate all design-phase activities, coordinating with design, engineering, and specialty consultant entities (MEP, building systems, BIM, QA/QC, consultants, and trade partners) to ensure high-quality, coordinated, and constructible deliverables aligned with project objectives. Oversee on-boarding and key trade qualifications.
  • Cost, Schedule & Risk Control: Establish and actively manage design budgets, schedules, estimates, and metrics; reconcile cost trends; proactively identify and resolve risks to maintain predictability and prevent overruns.
  • Value Optimization & Sustainability: Drive value engineering, constructability, life-cycle analysis, and energy efficiency strategies (e.g., LEED) to optimize cost, performance, and long-term value for owners. Conduct alternative systems evaluations.
  • Procurement & Contract Strategy: Lead subcontractor and trade procurement strategies, including design-assist/design-build, bidding, buy-out (GMP), scope development, and contract coordination to eliminate gaps and ensure best value. Integrate contract requirements.
  • Permitting, Compliance & Stakeholder Coordination: Manage permitting, utilities, code compliance, and regulatory approvals while serving as the primary design interface among owners, agencies, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Organizational Excellence & Continuous Improvement: Implement LEAN design practices, standardize design management processes, develop status reporting, and lead training initiatives to strengthen organizational capability and repeatable success.

  • Internal: Design Team, Parking Business Unit, Engineering and Manufacturing, Finance/Accounting/Data Analytics, Field crew.
  • External: Owners, Subcontractors, Permit agencies.

Key Metrics and Deliverables

  • Delivery timing to schedule.
  • Delivery to cost/budget.
  • Delivery to relevant codes and permits.
  • Delivery of Estimates to support deliverables.
  • Delivery of ROMs, Value Packages, Key Trade Proposal reconciliations, GMP, and lump sum deliverables.

  • Programming and space planning skills.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of building, including site work, structure, finishes, envelope, and MEPF systems.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Project, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Understanding of design, construction, operations, and legal perspectives of design.
  • Familiarity with database information flow/costing software.
  • General estimating or cost knowledge.

Work Environment

  • Travel requirements: up to 50% - 70% at times.
  • General office environment.
  • Routine exposure to manufacturing and construction environments with hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and automated/manual machinery.
  • Routine exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, wet, and/or humid environments.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent: Sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones, standing and walking, business travel up to 100%.
  • Periodic: Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.
  • Occasional: Bending, squatting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in management positions managing and coordinating design disciplines.
  • LEED AP and Associated DBIA preferred.
  • BS in Engineering or Architecture required; MS preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred.
  • Proven experience working in the design phase of a project required.
  • Hands-on field experience in design and construction required.
  • History of affiliations with professional organizations (e.g., AIA, CSI, ASHRAE) preferred.

Pay

Compensation range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000 depending on experience.
