About the role

This role is for a mid-career engineer within the vehicle Electrical Power Subsystem team responsible for compute, network, and input/output functions of a lunar spacecraft.

Responsibilities

  • Technical authority for physical and functional components of electrical power subsystem hardware at the assembly level.
  • Development and management of requirements for avionics subsystems, including traceability and verification planning using industry-standard tools and processes.
  • Development and execution of development, verification, and validation work in laboratory and production environments.
  • Integration of interfaces with other vehicle subsystems, such as GNC, command and data handling, propulsion, and mechanical systems.
  • Coordination with internal and external component developers on interface definitions, deliverables, and schedule alignment.
  • Support for long-lead hardware identification and procurement planning to meet desired launch targets.
  • Risk analyses support including failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Utilize good engineering and business judgment to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS Degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in relevant areas of engineering operations.
  • Experience with analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, design, test, troubleshooting, signal integrity, power, and grounding and general board layout principles.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Experience with design and test of major electrical power system components, such as photovoltaics, batteries, and power distribution design.
  • Avionics hardware component design and assembly experience.
  • Avionics hardware and software integration experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.S. or PhD in the subject disciplines.
  • 8+ years of industry technical experience involving system formulation, research and development, and/or operations applied to spacecraft systems and environments.
  • Experience with human-rated spacecraft systems and safety-critical design processes for crewed missions.
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience designing high reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254 and similar standards.
  • Requirements management experience including familiarity with requirements management tools and aerospace standards.
  • Scripting, Programming and Analysis: TCL, Python, Linux shell and Windows batch scripting; C / C++; MATLAB / Simulink, HSPICE and HFSS (or similar modeling/analysis tools).
  • Spacecraft avionics hardware environmental test experience including radiation, vibration, and thermal testing.
  • Hands-on test experience with power or other avionics equipment, such as fault detection, isolation, and recovery testing or power quality testing.
  • Cross-organizational coordination experience working with multiple engineering teams and external organizations.
  • Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.

Pay

For WA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70
