About the role

We are seeking an Electrical PCBA Technician to own PCBA rework and board level repair while also supporting prototype builds and lab testing. This role is hands on and quality driven. You will be supporting assemblies to enable fast hardware iteration during development, validation, and early production. You will partner closely with the Electrical Engineering team, supporting PCBA rework and potential PCBA recovery after failure assessment. You’ll also help improve documentation of rework processes and troubleshooting guides as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision soldering, desoldering, and rework on complex PCBAs.
  • Use rework tools to remove and solder parts on PCBAs, including: Fine-pitch SMD components (down to 0402), High pin-count connectors, QFN/LGA packages, Rework of components on PCBs with thick copper (>2 oz) and >6 layers, Wire jumpers.
  • Diagnose and repair damaged PCBAs to determine if a board is recoverable, including inspection of parts, pads, traces, and connectors.
  • Support assembly/subassembly testing in the lab; assist with troubleshooting and failure analysis by providing high-quality rework and documentation.
  • Assemble, modify, and test prototype electronic/mechanical assemblies and fixtures with high precision.
  • Design and prototype simple fixtures/tooling to assist with assembly and rework processes; coordinate closely with hardware engineers.
  • Document rework actions for common failure modes.
  • Maintain rework/soldering tools, microscopes, rework stations, ESD controls, and consumables.
  • Use soldering tools (solder/desolder), board heaters, digital multimeters, power supplies, and other basic lab equipment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in electronics soldering and PCBA rework (role leveling may vary with experience).
  • Strong proficiency with soldering using microscopes and hot-air/reflow tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, board layouts, assembly drawings, and rework instructions.
  • High attention to detail and strong quality standards.
  • Independent work style, flexibility, and resourcefulness in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • IPC certification (or equivalent professional training).
  • Experience supporting R&D, robotics, high-reliability electronics programs, or early production environments.
