About the role
The primary responsibility is to operate and maintain electrical pallet jacks within a plant setting. This includes moving materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products using various equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain records and develop skills in basic tasks, techniques, and procedures within one skill area/process/method.
- Apply basic knowledge and skills to complete routine tasks consisting of prescribed steps.
- Work within clearly defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to quality guidelines.
- Work under general to limited supervision.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Zero to one year of warehouse experience or related experience and/or training.
- Mainly manual labor - unloading trucks and stacking pallets - under 25 lbs (some weigh less than 5 lbs).
- Must be able to verify labels on boxes and match them to pallets. Attention to detail is essential!
- Stand-up forklift experience required.
- Obtains and/or maintains appropriate licenses/training/certifications, as needed.
- Basic skills training in an analytical/scientific method or operational process area (e.g., material handling and management, logistics, manufacturing production).
- Effective communication skills to co-workers and Team Lead/Supervisor.
- Basic reading, writing, interpreting, and comprehending documents in English and performing basic math calculations.
- Basic computer skills.
Skills
- Zero to one year of warehouse experience or related experience and/or training.
- Zero to one year of forklift experience.
- Scanning experience is needed.
- Basic skills training in an analytical/scientific method or operational process area.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic reading, writing, interpreting, and comprehending documents in English and performing basic math calculations.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Demand
- Regular exposure to episodes of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, climbing, lifting, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, talking, hearing, twisting, repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers.
- Lifting and/or moving over 50 lbs occasionally.
- Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, extreme weather conditions, and vibration.
- Exposure to work in high, precarious places and fumes/airborne particles.
- Hot conditions in the summer months (no AC).
- Cold conditions in the winter months (limited heating).
- Noisy environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
