About the role
Samsung Austin Semiconductor is looking for an Electrical Operations Shift Technician who will be responsible for isolating and switching power equipment, terminating wiring, and completing maintenance work orders for buildings and equipment while ensuring adherence to applicable codes, corporate standards, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Execute planned and unplanned equipment isolation by completing Electrical Device Operation Requests (EDOR) and performing complex switching to transfer loads between power sources.
- Terminate and re-terminate infrastructure wiring to support other departments (e.g., motor maintenance) in accordance with engineering standards.
- Fulfill operations scope work orders for building and equipment maintenance throughout the facility.
- Perform minor repair work orders to ensure compliance with local codes, corporate standards, and safety regulations.
- Manage Infra Electrical Department access by issuing escorted access permits and conducting routine patrols to spot abnormalities or unexpected conditions.
- Oversee contractor and Samsung activities in Electrical Rooms, verifying safe execution and proper documentation.
- Assist Maintenance and Commissioning teams with inspections, functional testing, and troubleshooting as needed.
Work hours: D Shift – Wednesday through Friday (6:45pm – 7:15am) with alternating Saturdays.
Qualifications
- ≥ 3 years of licensed electrical experience in industrial or large commercial environments (maintenance, operations, QA/QC, or construction).
- Proficiency reading technical documentation – one line diagrams, electrical schematics, relay logic diagrams, wiring drawings, and construction plans.
- Hands on experience with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, meg ohmmeters, power quality analyzers, etc.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (LOTO, arc flash protection, NFPA 70E, safe switching in mission critical settings).
- Comfort with core Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn new software platforms.
- Preferred: Texas Journeyman Electrician license.
Pay
The current base salary range for this role is between $31/hour - $46/hour. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience.
