About the role

The Electrical Manager will coordinate planning for contractors and craft activities on a utility-scale solar site, ensuring high-quality electrical installations and fostering strong relationships through superior service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the high-quality installation of electrical portions of the project, including underground cabling, mod-to-mod wiring, combiner box terminations, and the DC collection system.
  • Provide drawing, constructability, submittal reviews, and feedback with the engineering team to verify that materials, equipment, and workmanship conform to specifications and contract documents.
  • Work with the Site Manager and owner’s Project Manager to review and update project schedules.
  • Supervise and ensure quality control of the work team.
  • Manage the interface with personnel concerned with connecting the project power grid to the existing transmission system.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, acting as a liaison between engineers, contractors, and craft workers to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Establish and nurture a teamwork environment within the project team.
  • Maintain relationships with all site visitors, including customers and contractors.
  • Review logistics efficiently and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Monitor contractors’ procurement of electrical resources, methods, staffing, look-ahead schedules, and coordination with other site activities.
  • Work with engineering staff to ensure accurate and timely transmission of plans, specifications, submittals, and RFIs to subcontractors.
  • Monitor the safety, quality, and efficiency of contractors' work on every project.
  • Ensure owner-supplied subcontract crews have the necessary resources and support.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in the installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of DC and medium-voltage cables.
  • Knowledge of current injection, Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble, and other cable and equipment testing methods.
  • Working knowledge of electrical drawings, sketches, and prints, including underground duct banks, trenching, manholes, vaults for collection systems, underground and pad-mount transformer usage, and SCADA systems used in the power industry.
  • Current driver’s license.
