Electrical Integration Leader - Devices & Controls, OMHS
About the role
The Electrical Installation Lead – Low Voltage Devices & Controls plays a critical role in driving the successful installation, configuration, and validation of field devices and low-voltage control systems for automation and material handling equipment across multiple fulfillment center sites. This role focuses specifically on low-voltage device installation, sensor deployment, VFD configuration, E-stop systems, fieldbus cabling, and device commissioning readiness.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage electrical installation crews focused on low-voltage device installation and configuration for MHE systems across North American facilities
- Direct installation of field devices including photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, limit switches, E-stop devices, pull cords, safety devices, and barcode scanners
- Oversee VFD installation, mounting, power connections, and control wiring
- Manage I/O block installation, wiring, and terminal connections per I/O lists and wiring diagrams
- Direct installation of zone controllers, actuators, operator stations, and stack lights
- Oversee E-stop cable system installation including cable runs, tensioning, I-bolt and pulley placement, and pull cord routing
- Manage sensor mounting, orientation, and alignment to ensure proper detection coverage
- Direct 24VDC control circuit wiring, device terminations, and panel-to-device connections
- Oversee fieldbus and industrial communication cabling installation (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, AS-i) with attention to routing, labeling, addressing, and termination quality
- Manage parameter setting and programming for all field devices including dip switches, photo eye training, sensor calibration, and VFD configuration
- Oversee match-mark cable connections to verify correct device-to-panel wiring
- Lead electrical QC activities including I/O verification — checking for shorts, breaks, stretched wires, and confirming wire labels match drawings
- Manage E-stop system testing and verification across all installed zones
- Verify sensor functionality, detection ranges, and operational parameters before handoff to controls commissioning
- Oversee side cover installation on completed conveyor sections
- Manage electrical device punchlist identification and repair
- Partner with controls commissioning team to validate system readiness for energization
- Ensure cable management, wire labeling, and device labeling meet standards before zone closeout
- Provide technical expertise for low-voltage control systems, 24VDC circuits, field devices, and industrial communication networks
- Review and interpret device layout drawings, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, control panel drawings, and fieldbus addressing schedules
- Follow and help develop device installation standards and best practices
- Create and maintain technical documentation including device installation SOPs, configuration checklists, and QC verification procedures
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve device installation issues that may impact commissioning readiness or system functionality
- Support development of scalable installation practices and field standards across multiple sites
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase device installation efficiency and first-pass quality
- Coverage of topics such as coordination and communication, technical leadership, standards, and day-to-day activities
Qualifications
- Experience in engineering including a supervisory role managing people
- Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical installation, controls installation, automation deployment, or a similar technical environment
- Experience leading or supervising electrical device installation crews, controls technicians, or field execution teams
- Experience reading and interpreting device layout drawings, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and control panel drawings
- Experience with low-voltage control systems including 24VDC circuits, field devices, sensors, VFDs, and industrial communication networks
- Experience working in fast-paced industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or automation environments
